I purchased an OtterBox case when I purchased my iPhone 4 roughly 18 months ago. Being a male from Texas, I am outside a lot working in the yard and exercising. I have dropped the phone dozens of times on carpet, concrete, wood flooring, and the ground while doing yard work. The case has always protected the phone.Excellent protection.

On 3/17/2014, I was out traditional climbing a slab at Grey Rock in the Poudre Canyon near Fort Collins Colorado. I was belaying my friend while he was sending the 3rd pitch and I heard something falling. I looked back to see my iPhone 4s taking a wicked tumble. To my amazement it slammed against a boulder 100 feet from me and 100 feet off the ground. I was clearly disappointed however there was no going down for me because my buddy was already setting up the next belay so I could continue up. I decided to finish the climb. When we got to the top it was snowing hard-, just enough to make the rock slick. We hiked down to our original starting point and at this time I decided to send myself on a sketchy rescue mission. I climbed up to the boulder I saw my phone slam into and to my amazement it had stopped in a little crack next to the boulder. I pressed the home screen button and my phone lit up! I immediately called my wife to tell her the story. The Defender Series case is top notch and had it not been for an amazing company and an amazing product I would be buying a new phone right now. Instead I am typing this with the very phone that took the tumble with a perfect unbroken screen. OtterBox you are amazing and I can't wait for my free replacement. Thank you so much. I will always protect my phone with a Defender Series!!!

I bought an OtterBox case for my Apple iPhone 5s about three months ago. Last week my phone rang and it was my doctor’s office calling so the second I answered the phone, the timer went off for my oven telling me my pizza was done. I opened the oven door, with my shoulder holding my phone to my ear. Evidently it wasn’t good enough because my phone slid straight down my arm and into the bottom of the 425 degree oven. Needless to say I panicked and unfortunately the first two words out of my mouth were not good. I know the doctor’s office receptionist had to have heard me. All I had handy was a butter knife and after about 20 seconds (which seemed like forever) I finally was able to pry the phone off of the bottom of the oven and flipped out on the door. I was absolutely amazed when I saw my phone still lit!!! I threw it in the refrigerator to cool it off and sure enough my Apple 5s was perfect. My case was melted a bit and warped but I would feel guilty asking for a replacement. After all it saved me from having to buy a new phone!!! I bought a new one the very next day and will always be an owner of an OtterBox

Who can master dropping their phone down that tiny slit that exists when the elevator doors open? This girl! My iPhone 5s SURVIVED an eight story plummet down the elevator shaft at work thanks to my Commuter Series case!!! I thought for sure the screen would be cracked and the phone would be in a million pieces, but the screen wasn’t cracked or even scratched for that matter and it fully functions! The case took a little beating and there is a dent on the phone, but that’s nothing compared to the alternative! Thanks for making such a great product!!!! And to think, I was just complaining that I wanted something less bulky!!!

On December 14, 2013, I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in which I broke my right femur in three places. I was thrown into oncoming traffic after flying through the air and rolling to a stop. Thanks to a following motorist who immediately redirected traffic, I was not hit again. I had an Apple iPhone 4 on my right hip. The iPhone was protected by an OtterBox Defender Series case and came through without a scratch. The belt clip was destroyed and the phone case received minor damage, but the phone survived without a scratch. Pretty awesome case, although not a test I would recommend. My new phone (just upgraded for newer technology to an iPhone 5S) and my iPad 2 both have an OtterBox Defender Series cases on them. Great product, OtterBox.

Dear Sirs, Would you consider building trucks? I want to tell you how well your OtterBox performed in a very severe situation. On February 5th, I was traveling at 50 MPH on a 55 MPH semi-snowy, two lane road when the person coming at me lost control, crossed the center line and hit me nearly head-on, on the shoulder of my side of the road as I had pulled my wheel hard right to try to get away from him. I was pinned in and had to be extricated, but only sustained a broken hip, wrist, and cracked ribs. When things settled I couldn’t find my phone as it had gone through the broken driver's side window and into three to four feet of snow where it remained until a friend of the family found it on March 25th. Nearly 7 weeks later!! Your OtterBox worked so well that, after charging the iPhone 5s, it started and worked perfectly with no blemishes to it or the box. Thanks for an awesome product.

I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter, my iPhone and iPad go with me everywhere. It has become somewhat of a joke. How do I know when it is time to upgrade my Apple Products, because OtterBoxes last around 2 years of the abuse I put them through. I destroy the rubber outer case, break the inner hard cases, but as of yet, I have sustained zero damage to my Apple devices, which continue to work perfectly for their next owner.

Long story short, I left for work last Friday and pulled out on the busy road as I noticed I forgot my phone at work, possibly. I made a U-turn and watched my phone bounce on the ground a few times after hitting the pavement on the busy road. I freaked out, pulled into a car lot and walked to the side of the road. There were a ton of cars headed for my phone and I had to wait while at least four, maybe five cars rolled right over my iPhone 5c. I have already had to replace a lost/stolen phone recently which costed me $150. I finally had a chance to run into the road and retrieve my phone. Needless to say it still works beautifully. The case just has a few bumps and bruises, and the phone is a tiny bit cracked on the back in a tiny little area, but it’s all still in great working condition and pretty much still looks brand new. I’m absolutely amazed that many cars can roll over it and it still held up, plus the bouncing on the ground. GREAT WORK OTTERBOX!!!!! I’ll never ever use another phone case.

I am police officer and was working the night on April 4, 2014, when I pulled up on three suspicious subjects. I apparently had my iPhone 5c in my lap and didn’t notice this when I exited my police unit. I went to several other complaints after this, then noticed that my phone was missing. Upon returning to the area where I had exited my unit earlier in the night, I located my phone in the middle of the street. The phone had obviously been run over by a vehilce at least once . The case only had a couple scratches and the screen cover was a little damaged but the phone had absolutely no damage and has worked fine since. GREAT CASE!!! I would definitely buy another one.

My son, Weston, lost his iPod at a friend’s house on Halloween 2013. On St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 2014, I received a photo of the iPod 5 telling me they had found it in their yard after all of our snow had melted. This has been a brutal winter in Western NY. Temperatures were as low as -22° below zero along with lots of snow. I never dreamed Westons' iPod would work again. Sure enough we plugged it in and it worked. After 4 1/2 months in the brutal elements of winter, 70 miles south of Buffalo, his iPod with the OtterBox worked!

Just a quick note. My husband bought an OtterBox for his iPod, and I complained about the price. He was killed on his motorcycle last year and his iPod didn’t have a scratch on it and still works perfectly. I would like to thank you for the product because the police returned his iPod to us and now we have his music and will be able to have memories of songs we listened to together. On our visit to Kemah Boardwalk, I decided to try out their new roller coaster “the Boardwalk Bullet”. I didn’t think it through, so I slid my iPhone with its OtterBox cover in the back pocket of my shorts. Let me tell you, that was one scary ride! Then my phone was gone when we got off the ride. The park employees stated that they would check under the roller coaster in the morning for lost items. I went home and tracked my phone on the ‘lost my iPhone’ app and sure enough it was under the roller coaster! That night, there was a huge thunderstorm. We thought for sure my phone was a goner, if not for the fall, surely because of the storm. A few days later, I received a call that my phone had been found. I had it over-nighted to my home. The OtterBox has a small hole on the screen but otherwise my iPhone was intact!!! Not a small scratch on it and in fully working condition! I think everyone who I’ve told this story to has gone off and bought themselves an OtterBox. Thank you!

I went skydiving over the weekend and always carry my iPhone 5 (with an OtterBox) in case I land off the drop zone. On my last jump of the day, the zipper pocket holding my phone came undone and it fell from a 10,000 foot altitude. I drove home, giving it up for it as lost until I saw the phone still registering on the device locator app on my iPad. It landed three miles from the drop zone in a cornfield. After driving back and hiking to its location, I was reunited with a perfectly intact iPhone and a new view of OtterBox! Thank you for an awesome product.

My husband spent most of Sunday outside cutting trees with his dad. He felt a little kickback from the chainsaw, but thought nothing about it. He went about his business for another good half hour. He started feeling his phone sliding out of his pocket, when he looked down to check it out, he saw a huge rip in his jeans. It turns out that the "kickback" he felt, was actually when the chainsaw hit his leg. When he came inside and showed me his phone I just could not believe my eyes and ears. We pulled it out of the case thinking the phone was ruined, and it was unbelievable- not only was his leg saved from a rushed ER trip, his phone only had a TINY SCRATCH on it. My wife brought in the mail one day and laid her iPhone 5 with an OtterBox Defender Series case down on the kitchen counter with the mail. I was looking through the stack and separating out the "junk" mail as I was about to burn the papers in the trash. Little did I know her phone was covered up in this stack. Later on that evening, she was unable to find her phone. She told me she brought it in with the mail...I had a bad feeling! After the burn barrel cooled off, I went looking for it. I found it in the barrel fairly badly burned. The case was pretty deformed and had some melted spots and lots of ash on it. After removing the phone from the OtterBox, we wiped it off with a damp cloth and inspected the phone. It was in remarkably good shape! Never thinking it would ever work again, she pushed the power button and it came alive! A quick test of a few of its' functions demonstrated that it was working well, and a few days later now, it's still working perfectly.

It was a beautiful sun dappled, blue sky morning when we began our cross country ski trip up the Going To The Sun Road in Glacier National Park Montana, this past February. 11, 2014.The air was crisp, the snow several feet deep, untracked and waiting for our adventure to unfold. Our friends, Keith and Marlene, my wife Carol and myself, on vacation from western New York, were looking forward to heading into Glacier’s fabled back country. We locked into our skis and had no sooner taken off than were greeted by a curious doe and her young fawn. A positive omen, foretelling of a great day to come! As we headed up the road, Keith breaking trail, we stopped several times to take pictures. The narrow chute of a trail, lined on both sides with tall evergreens and capped ahead and above with brilliant blue sky was exactly why we came . At one point, shortly after we had made a slight turn on the trail, one of Glacier’s snow capped peaks loomed front and center, glistening white amid the blue sky. Of course, I couldn’t resist a picture. I unzipped my jacket pocket, took out my Apple iPhone, protected for adventure by an OtterBox case and snapped several shots. It was in putting my phone away that I must have forgotten to zip my jacket pocket. About two and a half miles later, when a gurgling stream broke through the tumbled ice and rock, I went for my phone again to take another picture. That’s when I discovered my phone had fallen out of my pocket somewhere along the trail! Since there was no service in this part of Glacier, we could not call the phone. Reluctantly, we skied back to our starting point, searching carefully for a black rectangle showing up against the white snow. No luck. We skied it again, still unsuccessful. Finally, after a third try, we posted a notice on the trailhead kiosk, asking anyone who might find the phone to call Carol. We also reported it to the ranger station. According to the ranger, however, chances were slim of ever locating it. The road is not totally plowed until June and by then, it would probably end up waterlogged, buried under a winter of snow and ice. Though the phone had an OtterBox case, our hopes for it ever showing up again or ever being usable were pretty well dashed. We returned home after our vacation and used this dilemma to purchase two new iPhones and to eliminate our landline service. With the help of our local Apple Geniuses, we were also able to move much of our data into the Cloud and transport it to my new phone. Fast forward to Sunday April 27. Stephanie, from Missoula, Montana and her family were heading up the first part of the Going To The Sun Road, where it had recently been plowed to Avalanche Lake, on a spring hike. On the way back down, she thought she saw a black item on the five foot high snowbank. Thinking it might be an old cassette, she checked it out... It was my iPhone!!! When they returned to the trailhead kiosk, they saw my note written on a piece of duct tape. I had given Carol’s cell number to call, however, when we ditched our landline, we ported that number to Carol and eliminated her old cell number. As a result, they got no one when they called. Her son-in-law, who works for Verizon, fiddled with the phone and - yes!!! - it was still working! He also figured out how to access my number off the phone. They checked my photos and saw many, many pictures of our four granddaughters, and Stephanie, a Grandmother herself, thought, they would want this phone back. So on Sunday evening, I received a call from a thoughtful Grandmother in Missoula Montana, telling me that my cell phone had been found, was still in working order and would be sent back to Williamson, New York!! There are several lessons to this lost and found adventure. One is a testimonial to the level of quality, durability and workmanship in the Apple iPhone product. Not to be ignored is the protection correctly advertised by the OtterBox case. But most significant is the concern and detective work that total strangers would go through to return, not just my phone, but more importantly, my cherished pictures of Julia (8), Kiki(5), Natalie (3) and Carolyn (8 mo.). Perhaps it’s the bond of grandparents that links us so humanly together!!!

I work for oil companies doing inspections. I have dropped my phone twice from 60 foot high storage tanks, and backed over it with a Ford Ranger fully loaded with cargo. The Defender Series case saved the phone from ANY damage. This is my fourth case (due to phone up grades only). All the above occurred with the same case in use. Other than a small cut in the outer cover and small scratches in the screen cover I am VERY happy with your product! One of the few things I own that works as, OR better than advertised.

On April 16, 2014 my brother had a nearly fatal crash in a dump truck he was driving. He was propelled through the windshield when a tire blew and was slammed nose first into a rock wall. The sheriff, paramedics, etc. said they did not find a phone at the scene. I returned to the scene two days later and started using my phone to call his…I heard a very faint ringing. We moved a rock at the wall face, about a foot and half in diameter, dug underneath the tire tracks left from the dump truck and about four inches below the surface was his phone.. OtterBox protected!! After being in mud, fuel and oil, under the truck, under a rock, exposed to all the elements, it was muddy, yes, but not a scratch on the phone. The rubber casing is toast. I later found out that the truck engine had caught on fire and had to be extinguished so the phone also survived that type of punishment. I will never have another phone without an OtterBox. By the way my brother has survived with a lot of injuries, but the trauma unit at the hospital said it’s a miracle.

This summer I took my kids to Great Adventure Park in Jackson, New Jersey. While riding Kinda Ka, the fastest (128 mph)(actually now second fastest) and tallest(458 ft.) roller coaster in the world, two phones fell out of my pocket. The phone without an OtterBox cover was utterly destroyed and lost forever. My iPhone with the OtterBox cover was recovered by security that night and still works to this day. Last Saturday I was out ice fishing in 4 ft of water. At 11am I went to put my coat on for a minnow run and my iPhone 4S in its' OtterBox fell into my hole and went to the bottom of the bay. Sunday morning I took out an underwater camera and after an hour of trying, I successfully recovered my iPhone. After being fully submerged for 24 hours I seriously had zero hope my phone would ever work again. I removed my OtterBox and immediately and put it in rice. Today, 24 hours later, my iPhone turned on! I didn't lose any of my 1000 pictures or anything! I will forever be grateful to OtterBox! And am living proof that though I didn't have your lifetime waterproof case, your case saved my phone and of course a year of memories I would have lost!

Upon leaving for the airport at the end of our vacation, the trunk of our rental car opened and a backpack containing multiple electronic items fell out. The backpack contained an iPad, BOSE headphones, a GPS and my work iPhone in an OtterBox case. It wasn’t until we reached the airport that we realized the backpack was missing. After returning to the scene and realizing the backpack not there, I wrote off the bag and its contents because we needed to make our plane home. In my wife’s quick thinking, she remembered my work iPhone was in the bag and tried giving the number a call. Luckily, not only did a hotel shuttle driver pick up the pack but the manager was there to answer the phone. His comment: “everything in the pack was destroyed EXCEPT for the phone.” The driver returned the pack to us at the airport and we were able to capture the contents and still make our plane. As seen in the attached pictures, the OtterBox saved the day and the remaining contents of the backpack – most importantly my car keys. Thank you.

I bought your Armor Series case for the 4s so that I could use it for my kayak training in Barbados. I instantly liked the looks of it, and the clips kind of sold me on the case. The other day I’d finished training and checked my time on the Kinetic GPS app, and then put the phone back into the kayak. It was 6:30 pm, and getting dark here. I carried the kayak back up to where we stored it, and then realized that the phone had dropped out of the kayak. Unfortunately the phone had fallen into the sea. I tried looking for it with a torch light, but had no luck that night. Needless to say, I was worried, and planning how I would have to buy a new phone, since there was no way I would be able to find it within the 30 mins that the case was rated to keep your phone dry. The next morning, almost twelve and a half hours later, I decided to take a look around the spot that I figured it had dropped. I was there less than five minutes before I found the phone, sitting on the sea bed, in around five and a half feet of water. Luckily, it had not been covered by the sand. I quickly ran up the beach to dry the case off and open it to see what had happened to the phone. To my amazement, there was not even a single drop of water in the case, but it was not over yet- I had to be sure that it was still working. Once I got it home, I plugged it in, and it turned on. OtterBox, your case saved my phone, and I am still using it like nothing ever happened. The case is still water tight, and I used it for today’s kayak training session. Thanks for such an amazing product. Any iPhone I have in the future will be wrapped in a waterproof OtterBox, no doubt. Thank You.

My husband and I swear by our OtterBox phone cases. We have Nigerian Dwarf goats, and they are very curious creatures even when it comes to electronics. We never have to worry with these cases when the goats get ahold of them. In the picture our goat, Sheldon, trying to make a call.

I am pretty sure we sold quite a few otter boxes at my son’s hockey game! Most of the moms have iPads for the hockey siblings... We were close to the top bleacher when my daughter DROPPED the iPad! Had I not purchased an otter box we would have been out a $600 iPad. But it literally BOUNCED and was recovered without a single scratch. The sound of the crowd around us was horrifying...however, the sound of the crowd after it was fine because of the OtterBox was PRICELESS. THANK YOU OTTER BOX! Worth every penny!!!!!

"I have an iPad and three kids (7yrs,4yrs,8mos) who love to play with it. I had a neoprene sleeve to protect the iPad while traveling but I hadn't got a case to protect it during use. I just told the kids to 'Be Careful', yeah right!! Then it happened! Even though the rule is...don't carry the iPad around...my 4yr/old took it to the bathroom with her so that her brother wouldn't take it while she was going potty. It, she says, just fell off the cabinet. But, the screen was totally destroyed! Crushed on all four corners with two big cracks running through the middle. I was fortunate enough to have a friend who is techy enough to be able to replace the screen for me. This was, however, my wake up call: Get something to protect the iPad from the kids!!!

My home was in the direct path of the November 17th EF4 Tornado that hit Washington, IL. My 5 year old son's iPad Mini (in a Defender Series OtterBox) was in his 2nd story bedroom when the tornado hit. My son was particularly distraught over the loss of his iPad...but we found it 2 days later under the rubble in my basement stairway (it now has 0 stories)...and it still worked great. After church one Sunday I accidentally placed my iPad protected by the Otterbox Defender Series case on top of my minivan. As I traveled down the state highway at 50 MPH, I saw my iPad tumble on the asphalt. My first thought was, “how many pieces was it going to be in“? I turned the van around and retrieved my iPad. It was in perfect shape with the only damage in the corner where it hit the pavement! Great product that saved my iPad! Way to go OtterBox engineers! You guys are great!

We have a cast iron spiral staircase. I was about eight steps up and when I dropped my iPad from the 8th step all the way down to the basement. I heard it bounce off of each of the 11 steps as it dropped to a cement floor. I was scared to go and look- I had imagined that it was ruined. To my SURPRISE, the only thing broken was two of the legs on the OtterBox stand, and the iPad was not even dented anywhere. Since the stand was broken, I ordered another OtterBox IMMEDIATELY and it arrived two days later. I would not even consider not using Otterbox to protect my iPad. I would highly recommend this product!!! Two broken legs on the stand and the purchase of a new OtterBox Defender Series is a small price to pay considering the cost of a new iPad. Thanks OtterBox for making a superior product!!
